On Sunday 26th August, our new CARVE recruit Megan Falconer hosted her first CARVE workshop at Teasel and Tweed in Aberdeen. Since it’s not every day we have a new team member pop their (CARVE) cherry, we got Megan to tell us how it was for her.
Teasel and Tweed was a great venue; a really lovely workspace and a totally relaxing and calm environment. Perfect for my first CARVE! I loved the class, everyone was so enthusiastic.
We began with lemon drizzle cake (yum) and some lovely teas and coffee, and as always started with drawing out ideas. People were sketching out completely different designs, and some of my CARVErs even brought in sketchbooks with pre-prepared designs. I loved that. After a bit of planning, off they went, carving away.
Some of my class took inspiration from the CARVE samples and some created fantastic, intuitive designs. Moving from drawing to creating lovely CARVEs was a delight to watch. I can’t wait to see them back in silver!
My favourite parts of the class were watching all the designs take shape. Everyone moved in completely different directions, the designs were totally unique to the CARVEr. I really loved our little CARVE gallery at the end - when everyone got to see all the other CARVEs once the making had been done. There were a lot of discussions over the final CARVEs, I am genuinely so excited to see what everyone makes of them!
Cheers Megan, sounds like a pretty good first class! Were you there? Make sure to tag us with #wearecarve on social media so we can see your CARVEs in the wild! And if you fancy taking part in a class, head over to our Workshops page and see what takes your fancy.
