On the twelfth day of CARVEmas, our newest CARVE member snuck in there with her pick. This ring was CARVEd at a hen party that Jenni had an awful lot of fun at, and she thought it very important for the coming year that you all know just how awesome a CARVE hen party is.
For one thing, you can make something that looks as glorious as this. For another, the whole event is spectacular - and you get to have a pretty unique hen party experience if that's what you're after (and if you're reading this, we're pretty sure that's what you're after). So if you've got a pal who needs a hen party next year, you know where we are, just give us a yell.
This is it though lads, the last day of CARVEmas. Day 12. We are here. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and the CARVE team is off to hang out under, on, or near the tree, ideally with vast quantities of bucks fizz.
We'll be back in the New Year with dates for 2017 workshops and many more exciting things for you!
Happy Christmas, and have a fantastic New Year.
Our penultimate pick for the twelve days of CARVEmas is from Katie. It's possible she has a bit of a soft spot for the ring-with-a-hole in it, but it's more likely that this Bakery47 number is just pretty darn awesome. Smooth, shiny and just lovely.
If you want a shot at CARVEing one of your own, we'll be announcing our first few CARVE classes of 2017 in early January, but as an insider's tip: you can still buy a voucher at our 2016 prices (which we're having to increase next year) and USE it in 2017! You get an actual, in-real-life, physical voucher - so we'll make sure that hits your doormat after Christmas.
Now, for those of you whose maths is up there with the Einsteins and actuaries of the world, you'll notice that tomorrow is the twelfth day of CARVEmas. That's right, it's the last day of this wonderful, new, festive period that we hope you have enjoyed in the run-up to Christmas. We'll be back tomorrow with our last day, and then the CARVE team is heading off to hang out with their families, eat mince pies and turkey till we can't move, and we'll be back with fresh new classes for the New Year!
Another pick from Kate for the tenth day of CARVEmas. We're sticking to a theme here - the little Totoro character on this ring was stamped there using a wee heated metal stamp - so more fire.
It's pretty darn cute, and if you have something you would like to stamp into your finished CARVE, why not bring it along to your next class? And hey, you can even book a voucher for that in our shop!
This adorable CARVE was made at Brewdog Dundee, so we're assuming they don't mind too much if you use one of their candles to heat things...
See you for the eleventh CARVEmas tomorrow! (We're pretty close now...)
For the ninth day of CARVEmas, it's Kate's pick. This very fluid ring is from one of our first Edinburgh workshops, in Blackfriars (which, very sadly, is now closed).
We adore that this ring has a bit of structure to it, but it's still super organic. This is also an awesome example of another way to work with the wax: the organic quality for this CARVE was made by heating the wax with a lighter. Oh yeah, and as long as you are careful (and follow sensible health and safety protocols and rules of the venue...) this is a different technique to try at your next CARVE workshop. And you can book a voucher for that right here.
Next up, the tenth day of CARVEmas...
Our eighth day pick for CARVEmas is another of Jenni’s picks. This one is by Solii (who is Edinburgh’s digital fabric printing guru, if you’re in the market), and was created during a mini-CARVE during the Craft Scotland Conference.
For a shorter workshop (mini-CARVEs are just one hour) this is a fairly complicated design (lots of logic), and Jenni loves it for its complicated uncomplicated-ness and because it's so shiny…
Mini-CARVEs (like our CARVE-a-thons or this shorter workshop which was part of a bigger event) are great if you are having a company do or have a programme of events you would like to add to and would still love us to squeeze in a CARVE. If you have something going on and want us to bring a CARVE to it, give us a shout!
We've not got many days of CARVEmas left, so don't forget to look out for tomorrow…
It's CARVEmas - the seventh day!
This ring is one of Katie's picks, from a CARVE at Avery & Co in Dundee. We love this ring for its individuality, it's somehow both chunky and skinny looking all at once - glorious.
Did you CARVE it? Tell us! And keep your eyes wide for tomorrow's day of CARVEmas, after you stop off and grab your discount voucher for one of next year's CARVEs...
To celebrate SJW, CARVE popped up for our first ever CARVE-a-thon, where you could drop in, CARVE something fabulous like this, and drop out again, and have a beautiful silver ring sent to your house in just three weeks.
And remember, you could still book your CARVE voucher for our workshops in 2017 before we have to put our prices up - get your discount while you can!
Stay tuned for tomorrrow's CARVEmas pick...
On the fifth day of CARVEmas, this CARVEr gave herself, fiiiive goooolllld riiiiings...
No wait, just one, but big enough that it's like wearing five. This gorgeous chunker was CARVEd by Julia at Century General Store way back in April, and is Jenni's choice. She's jealous of it, because she had to sit next to Julia while she came up with something that looked like a million pounds. And probably weighs a million pounds too, but it's definitely worth the weight. (Snigger.)
We'll be back tomorrow with day six, sit tight...
CARVEmas day four is picked by Katie and was made during a hen party in Edinburgh.
Again, with the facets. We love a bit of a facet, us. And it's a wee bit asymmetrical, lovely.
Plus, this beautiful specimen gives us the chance to tell you that we run private events too, in case you didn't know. We can come to you, we can bring bubbly, and you can make a ring in a room with your pals. Birthdays, anniversaries, office parties, hen parties, make your own wedding ring... Whatever the celebration (Tuesday?!) if you want to make a ring during it, we're there. Just give us a yell. Oh, and, we're also on The Wedding Collective.
Gosh, isn't today's ring just beautiful? Stay tuned for tomorrow...
Day two of the 12 Days of CARVEmas is this metal gem, CARVEd at Century General Store.
This is Katie's pick, and we can see why she loves it, it's gorgeous!
When we're not picking our 12 fav CARVE moments, we're organising next our CARVE classes for 2017, and we've got a bonus insider's tip for you today.
If you want to CARVEsomething as lovely as this, we highly recommend scooting on over to our shop to book your voucher for Christmas - 'cause we're going to have to put our prices up for 2017 (Brexit, what can we say). But until January, you can still book for our 2016 prices, so get your vouchers in and nab yourself a bargain... What are you waiting for?!
Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow's CARVEmas offering, or read one for day one...
We love a bit of Christmas. So, for the run-up to the Big Day, we're bringing you 12 days of ChristmasCARVE. CARVEmas! The CARVE team will be looking back over our first year in business, and between us, we'll pick just 12 of our favourite images. Tricky.
For the first day of CARVEmas, Kate has picked this beauty, created by Claire. Claire is a serial CARVEr who has been three times - we might just have to start rewarding her for her loyalty. For this bit of bling, Claire carved a channel into her wax. Once she got the silver cast back, she enamelled the green herself during a Vanilla Ink jewellery class.
